ABOUT ME

Details

Hejsa!

I am Amanda Jiménez, an eighteen years-old girl from Madrid, Spain, currently living in Præstø, Denmark. I am here because I decided to take an EVS (European Voluntary Service), after finishing High School and before starting University, since I got really tired of the student repetitive life, and I didn't know what was the right choice for me regarding my future studies. I felt kind of attracted to Denmark, maybe for its differences with Spain, so I applied to come here, and luckily I received a positive answer from the Præstø Privatskole. This little school in Præstø is a really special place that took the decision, for the first time this year, to take a youngster from Europe, so both kids, staff and the volunteer himself could exchange and learn about culture.

I will try to sum up, since I decided that my project would be about pictures and not so much about words. The organisation supporting me here in Denmark, Dansk ICYE, asks their volunteers to reflect about their projects, while presenting them to the community, with a "dissemination project". They put some conditions and a deadline, but each one of us decides what, how, the public, where... I chose pictures, so I could enjoy the time working on the project, since photography is a hobby I am passionate about. And just because I wanted to be original, I tried to develop it mainly in a physical way, which means that this web is just a back-up so I could give the informative part (trying to keep it short, so the pictures are the stars). At some point I thought I would be brave enough to write this whole thing in Danish, but being honest, I am not that good, and since I love to go on when I speak or write, English felt comfier and easier for the purpose.

This is, finally, the result of eight months taking pictures, some of them just for fun, and some with more thinking process behind, so I could show as much of my experience as possible. This means that not necessarily all the pictures come from my collection of favourites, but that I tried to chose the wider variety of what these months have been.

I honestly think you can enjoy it, and if a major doubt comes to your mind while going through my project, you can find ways (mail, Facebook and Instagram) of contacting me on this website (or, if it is still a possibility, you can find me around the school).

 Thank you for your time.

 My kindest regards,

 Amanda.
